James 1:9-10, “Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.”
Throughout the world, there are great distinctions between the classes. In India, the “Castes are ranked, named, endogamous (in-marrying) groups, membership in which is achieved by birth. There are thousands of castes and subcastes in India, and these large kinship-based groups are fundamental to South Asian social structure...Members of higher-ranking castes tend, on the whole, to be more prosperous than members of lower-ranking castes. Many lower-caste people live in conditions of great poverty and social disadvantage.”
I am thankful, that “the ground is level at the cross!” When we come to Christ, we must all come to Him the same way. We come in humility, because we are all sinners. Our social, economic, or political status is not a factor on whether or not God will save us. Salvation is through the completed work of Christ on the Cross.
Then, we are reminded that the promises of God are not dependent on these factors either. God gives to each of us the same promises. In the Body of Christ, there is Brother and Sister, not Lord and Master. We are grateful for the work of Christ that brings liberty from manmade castes and classes.
1 Corinthians 3:21-22, “Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours; Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours; And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.”
